Fancy Box

Good morning. My 2nd post of the day to catch up with Challenges from this week. This is for Crafty Cardmakers Spotlight on Containers and Fancy Envelopes.
This box started out as two pieces of flat white card. These were coloured using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and masks and then left to dry thoroughly.
Th top and the bottom of the box were made by trimming the card to give two squares, one slightly smaller than the other and they were then folded up. Amazingly, these keep their shape without the need to use glue, although I do line the lid, with a square of card, to neaten it up.
The 4 hearts were cut using Nestabilities - a wonderful invention - where would we be without them. The largest one was left in the die and coloured with Fired Brick Distress Ink leaving a white border once the die was removed. The three smaller hearts were coloured with the same ink and them over stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder.
These layers were decoupaged with foam pads to give depth and then mounted onto the box with double sided tape. A heart shaped crystal was positioned on the smallest heart for a bit of bling.
I think the end result will be great for next Valentine's Day for a small momento of the occasion. The finished box is about 3" square.

  3. What a lovely box. It sounds like a really clever design. If it holds together without glue, does that mean you could fold it flat for posting? Or am I being dense???

Thanks for joining us at Crafty Cardmakers.
