Heart Card

Good evening,

A nice simple heart card for Tuesday Alchemy Challenge-50-my-hearts-all-flutter.html


The base, A5 size, card is made from a beautiful patterned mirror card which I though set off the embellishment well.

The heart shaped piece of board was stamped with a flower image by from Sheena Douglass. The individual flowers were linked together with relief paste to add the leaves. Everything was then coloured with Pebeo Fantasy Prisme Paint which was allowed to dry thoroughly. The lace was added to the back of the heart before it was mounted over the pink ribbon using Pinflair Glue Gel. The bow was added last to complete the effect.

Tag Bookmarks

 Good morning. Here are some examples of the tag bookmarks I have been making using Sheena Douglass stamps on mount board. 

The images have been outlined with Cerne Relief and then they have been painted with my favourite Pebeo Fantasy Moon and Prisme paints. I took these to the Stonehouse craft fair yesterday and they were much admired. I even sold the poppy one in the top picture. The rest will be uploaded into my Folksy shop in the near future.

Valentine's Card

Good afternoon.

Now that Valentine's Day is over, I thought I would show you the card I made for Keith.

The A5 base card is suitably red and the embossed Centura Pearl card was made using my E-Bosser.

The heart was one of Sheena Douglass' die cut shapes - the largest size in the pack. The stamped images are also from Sheena,  - the Fantasy  stamp designs. This was decorated with Pebeo Fantasy Prisme and Fantasy Moon paints having first outlined the flowers with relief paste. I rather like the whole effect. It is simple and un-fussy but it looks a treat! The paints do give a lovely finish.

I used Spellbinders to cut out the image, the image mount, the square (cut into two triangles) and the two banners for the belated birthday greeting.

The image of the van was from a Sheena Douglass (for Creative Expressions) stamp and the sentiment from a stamp by Chocolate Baroque. The main image was stamped with Mahogany distress ink and a damp paint brush was used to pull the ink in from the image to shade it. I loved the sentiment for a belated birthday card - An elephant never forgets... Unfortunately I do!

The square and the banners started out as white card which was coloured all over with various Distress Inks. Splashes of water which were mopped up with tissue, give the extra distressing effect.

The design was taken from the Critter Sketch Challenge, which I turned on its side. I took the liberty of adding the sentiment.

The background is navy blue pearlescent card and the "brad heads" on the banner were made with Copper Pearlidoodles.

One last Christmas card before the end of 2012!

Here is my last Christmas card for 2012 which is the one I made for Keith, my other half.

The Poinsettia is on the front cover and the other images are on the inside surfaces of  a concertina card. (The greeting is on the back of the card).

All are images taken from Sheena Douglass stamps and they have been painted with Pebeo Fantasy Moon and Fantasy Prisme paints once the relief edges had set.

The labels were also from Sheena's stamps which were stamped onto white pearlescent card and then heat embossed in gold.

The various shaped black layers behind the images were cut out with Spellbinders dies using my e-bosser machine.

The double sided pearlescent card used for the card base was embossed using the e-bosser machine in an A4 size embossing folder. The finished card is A5 in size.

More Decorated Tiles

I think I am getting the hang of this!

Here are 4 tiles all of which have been painted with Pebeo Fantasy Moon and Fantasy Prisme paints.

All the images are from stamps by Sheena Douglass.

I am looking into how to best mount these to make teapot or saucepan stands.

Decorated Tile

Here I am playing with Pebeo Fantasy Moon and Fantasy Prisme paints again.

This is based on a white ceramic tile. The central image is from a rubber tag stamp by the lovely Sheena Douglass. Once I had edged the stamped image in a gold coloured relief medium, I extended the design so that the whole tile surface was incorporated into the design.

The land, the tree and the tag edge are painted with the Prisme paint and the sky with the Moon paint. I love the way that the two colours of Moon paint mixed themselves to give the beautiful effect for the sky.

This will be made into a pot stand by putting felt and rubber feet on the back.

Pebeo Painted Book Marks

 I really have fallen in love with these wonderful paints. These tags, made from thick mount board, have been painted both with the Fantasy Moon and the Fantasy Prisme paints. Again, I have done a close up so that you can begin to see the sorts of effects that you get.

The image is from a stamp by Sheena Douglass from her latest sets designed to go with these paints. However, I am looking forward to using other stamped images too and even having a go free hand. So brave, so fearless!

Just wait until you see what they look like on ceramic tiles! Once the paint has dried for about a week, it is so tough that you can use it as a trivet for hot pans with no ill effects to either tile or pan.

I need to go raiding Ikea over the holidays to see what I can find to decorate. As the paints work on all non absorbent surfaces they will be so many things to have a go at.

Playing with Pebeo Fantasy Paints

Happy Saturday to you all.

I have been having great fun playing with my new Pebeo Fantasy paints. They give such brilliant effects. OK, I admit they are not perfect but as these are my first attempts I am pretty pleased with them.

The Fantasy Prisme paints split as they dry, as can be seen in the bottom close up picture, leading to all sorts of different effects. The amount of patterning apparently depends on how thick the layer of paint is. The more paint, the more it splits.

The Fantasy Moon paints don't split like the Prime but gives some lovely swirly patterns.

These three examples are done on thick cardboard so I can't wait to try them out on other substrates such as glass, tiles, mirrors etc.

The stamp used for the pattern is one of the new ones from Sheena Douglass. This is then outlined with a relief medium which does not spread to give a rim around each shape. Then you just drop the paint into each section carefully trying not to get it in the wrong sections!

They are oil based paints so it does take quite a time to dry but the results are worth it.

Textures in Blue and White

A Sunday card for 2 challenges:
Crafters Companion November challenge - Favourite colours

Crafty Catz weekly challenge #157 - Texture

The stamped image, on watercolour card, is from Sheena Douglass, stamped in chipped sapphire Distress ink and a wet brush was used to draw the colour into the image.

This is mounted on navy blue pearlescent card which in turn is mounted on felt marked card which had been embossed using the Ebosser (a magic machine from Crafters Companion - saves all that turning of a handle - electricity does the work for you) and an A4 embossing folder. The white card was coloured with tumbled glass distress ink to pick out the embossed pattern.

The background is made from ribbons, wools, fibres and fabric strips which were laid onto a cotton background. Over the top of the this was place a piece of coarse netting which had some built in glitter threads and the whole lot was couched (quilted) together by running parallel lines of white stitching from top to bottom and from side to side. When cut to the required size, American seam binding was wrapped around the edge to neaten it up.

A length of the seam binding was dyed with the same two distress inks, screwed up to give creases for more texture and dried before making the bow on the Crafters Companion Ultimate Pro.

The A5 card blank, also in navy blue pearlescent was folded to size on the Ultimate Pro and then everything was bonded in place with double sided tape, foam tape and Pinflair glue gel.

From all this, you might have gussed that my favoutire colour combination is blue and white.

For the Crafters Companion chellenge I have used the following products of theirs: Spray and Slide, Spray and Sparkle, Spray and Shine, Paper and Card packs and the Ultimate Pro.

The Crafty Catz challenge is for an easel card.

Totally Papercrafts is for making your own flowers.

The Critter Sketch challenge provided the layout for the front of the card.


The stamped image is by Sheena Douglass. The Happy Birthday Sentiment by Chocolate Baroque. These were both stamped on white card and embossed with clear embossing powder. Both were coloured with various colours of distress ink. - shades of blue plus Milled Lavender.

These were layered onto navy blue pearlescent card, the same card as used for the A4 base of the easel card. Crafters Companion paper and card was used for the light blue scalloped outlines, the scallops being made using the Ultimate Pro.

The flowers were made from layers from My Craft Studio.



Autumn Leaves

Here we have a card for three challenges:

The A5 card is a beautiful pearlescent orange with a leather like finish.

The autumn leaves and the two corner squares were made from kraft paper which had been screwed up, died with Distress Inks and sprayed with glimmer mist for a bit of bling. All were cut out with Spellbinders dies.

The sentiment, from Sheena Douglass - which says, in case you can't read it, "Autumn is a second Spring, when every leaf is a flower" - was stamped on white card with Versmark and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Copper Bronze Lustre powder. It was then cut out with a Spellbinder die and shaded with Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey Distress Inks.

The ribbon was died with various Distress Inks to match the Autumn theme and this was threaded around a large gold hammered card square and tied with a bow. Everything was layered up on the card either with glue or Pinflair Gel to dive some dimension. The tails of the bow were glued in place and hot glue orange Swarovski crystals were added in the corners as dictated by the sketch.

A Study in Brown and Orange

A card for two challenges:

Well, as you can see there is a lot of brown and orange on this card so I think I score on that one. The base card is orange with orange and brown mats used under the image. The flourishes and double butterfly, cut using Spellbinder dies, are in brown.

The image is from my absolute favourite stamp by Sheena Douglass from her "A Little Bit Sketchy" range. The image was stamped onto watercolour card with Adirondack Espresso ink. A water brush was used to pull the ink from the image to shade the rest of the card so that there was no white card to be seen. Once the image was dry it was matted onto brown card and mounted onto the card with Pinflair glue to raise it away from the base A5 card to give dimension.

The butterfly was just attached to the card by the body so that the double set of wings were raised up.





Flower Card

Here is a card for the Sketch and Stash Challenge no 96

The main image was created using a Versamark embossing pad, clear embossing powder and a beautiful stamp by Sheena Douglass. Once the image was embossed Broken China, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks were used to colour the background. The ink does not stick to the embossing which acts as a resist so it was wiped off.

The background and the strip of card were white card which was treated with yellow, blue and green marbling inks. These were matted onto black and white card. The same was done for the sentiment which is from another Sheena stamp.

The stash element for the challenge consists of the flowers which were a prize last year from another challenge.

Butterfly Dance

Here we have a card for three challenges:

The base, A5 size card was coloured with Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick Distress Inks. The image layer was coloured in the same way but it was spotted with water to lift spots of colour. The American Seam Binding was coloured on both sides using the same inks again.

The flowers and butterflies were stamped with Versamark and embossed with black glint embossing powder from WOW. The stamps  (flowers and butterflies) are by Sheena Douglass from her Silhouette Wildflowers set.

Once the image was dry it was mounted onto black card with a length of the ribbon wrapped round it. The bow was made separately and bonded in place. On top of the bow is a red button with an orangey red thread bow tied on it. and very small craft buttons, which were free with a magazine, finish off the embellishment.

Lupin and Holyhocks

Good afternoon,

Another card made using one of my embroidered, inked papers. I made this for a card challenge and stupidly missed the closing date....hey, ho!

The image, from a stamp by Sheena Douglass, was stamped on black card with Versamark ink and dusted with Perfect Pearls mica powder to give a lovely shiny gold image.

My hand made background was trimmed to a suitable size and mounted onto an A5 size blank card along with a black mat.

The ribbon was hand dyed to match the embroidered paper and tied in a double bow for the embellishment.


Single Poppy Card

Good morning.

Sorry, there seems to be a bit of a theme developing here but I do love poppies, they are my favourite flower.

Again this was a stamped design from Sheens Douglass over painted with one stroke painting techniques. The white card was innked with 3 different colours of green distress ink which was sprinkled with water and some of the ink lifted off to give a speckled effect.

The image was matted and layered onto an A5 white base card. The largest mat was white card sprayed with mica sprays to give a nice bit of shimmer.

For the embellishment I use a piece of flower shaped ribbon with flat backed crystals and pearls for the flower centres. It is quite a simple card but I think it looks quite striking.

Two Poppies

Good morning.

Here is a new card with my favourite poppies. The centre piece is the one stroke technique poppies based around stamped images from Sheena Douglass. They were painted with acrylic paints.

The background card was made by spraying white card with various tones of mica sprays. Once this was dry it was stamped with leaves from another Sheena stamp.

The base card is A5 in size and the same colour green card was used to make the layers along with one mat of satin copper card. Copper was used to compliment the copper embossing powder used around the edge of the image.

As a finshing touch vintage style lace was mounted with double sided tape and topped off with satin ribbon and a bow.


Vin Rouge

A card for just one challenge: Totally Papercrafts #79 Food and drink

This is based on a tall thin card made by folding an A5 piece of card the other way (so you don't end up with an A6 card!).

I have both Food and Drink here as the background features the grapes and the bottle contains the drink!

The large background mat is made from hand marbled card.

The Grape vine mat was from a Stamp by the Stamp Man. This was stamped with black Stazon, coloured all over with Shabby Shutters distress ink and the detail of the vine and grapes painted in with Adirondack inks.

The bottle was created from a piece of white card and I drew the bottle shape before colouring with distress ink. The label was cut from white card and edged with a small leaf stamp by Sheena Douglass. The Cheers stamp is also by Sheena and the Vin Rouge by the Stamp Man.

A bow was added as a small embellishment to complete the look.

Quite a simple card, but fun to make none-the less!
