Anything but a Card

Well the challenge was for anything other than a card so here is one of my encaustic art paintings.

The sky was created on a hot plate to give the interesting effect. The main part of the picture was done with the iron whilst the fence, birds and dragonflies were created with the stylus.

This was one of the pictures that I had in my recent exhibition in Stroud.

Christmas Card 1

Well, I thought it was time to start my Christmas cards and so for a change I thought I would go with a black and white theme.

The A5 size backing card  is made of beautiful double sided white pearlescent card which was run through my Ebosser to give the gorgeous embossed finish.

The image is from a stamp by Chocolate Baroque. It was one of their Christmas stamps from a few years ago but I have always liked it. This was simply embossed using black ink and very fine detail clear embossing powder.

The image and the mat were cut out with Spellbinder dies using the Ebosser again. I do like this new machine, it is so much easier than using a hand turned one when you have so many cards to make.

The effect was finished off with a black ribbon and bow on the spine.

Upon Reflection

Good afternoon.

It's not often the I put up a challenge card in the middle of the week but I have the rest of the week off work. Hurray!

So here is a card for 2 challenges:

Sketch and Stash challenge #100 - Use any sketch from the last 99
Crafty Creations Challenges #105- No Flowers

I used the Sketch and Stash sketch no. 82 and the stash was the sari ribbon on the backing panel.

The main image is a stamp from a Barbara Gray Clarity stamp which has been given a simple reflection a moon and some bulrushes in the foreground. A brayer was used to colour the sky and water with Adirondack ink

To continue the watery theme, the backing panel has been made from beautiful strips of recycled saris which have been felted onto a cotton backing. The panel was then trimmed to size and mounted on card to give it some stability. A ribbon was wrapped round before the panel was bonded to the A5 white base card. The bow was made separately and bonded on once the card had been assembled.

The bottom lacy edge was cut from navy blue pearlescent card using a Spellbinders boarder.

Crafty Catz weekly challenge #157 - Texture

The stamped image, on watercolour card, is from Sheena Douglass, stamped in chipped sapphire Distress ink and a wet brush was used to draw the colour into the image.

This is mounted on navy blue pearlescent card which in turn is mounted on felt marked card which had been embossed using the Ebosser (a magic machine from Crafters Companion - saves all that turning of a handle - electricity does the work for you) and an A4 embossing folder. The white card was coloured with tumbled glass distress ink to pick out the embossed pattern.

The background is made from ribbons, wools, fibres and fabric strips which were laid onto a cotton background. Over the top of the this was place a piece of coarse netting which had some built in glitter threads and the whole lot was couched (quilted) together by running parallel lines of white stitching from top to bottom and from side to side. When cut to the required size, American seam binding was wrapped around the edge to neaten it up.

A length of the seam binding was dyed with the same two distress inks, screwed up to give creases for more texture and dried before making the bow on the Crafters Companion Ultimate Pro.

The A5 card blank, also in navy blue pearlescent was folded to size on the Ultimate Pro and then everything was bonded in place with double sided tape, foam tape and Pinflair glue gel.

From all this, you might have gussed that my favoutire colour combination is blue and white.
